A dynamic and versatile young director, John Fawcett has a diverse and accomplished background. He began his career making commercials before moving on to direct music videos for Cowboy Junkies, Lori Yates and Jeff Healy, among others.

Fawcett’s award-winning short films, including Half Nelson (1991) and Scratch Ticket (1994), have screened internationally, and his debut feature film The Boys Club (1996) was nominated for five Genie Awards, including Best Direction. His second feature, Ginger Snaps (2000) – which he also co-wrote – premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival^® and went on to become an international cult hit, spawning a sequel and a prequel.

He has also directed episodes of various television series, including “Taken,” “Xena: Warrior Princess,” “La Femme Nikita,” “Power Play,” and the American version of “Queer as Folk.” He won a Gemini Award in 2002 for his direction on “Da Vinci’s Inquest.”
